A thought about the symbiotes, whether Goa'uld or Tok'ra. Having another voice and personality in your head and using your body is insanity and even if it's real, I think the aftereffects would be not dissimilar to mental illness. There's also the matter of Stockholm syndrome, because the host is in a sense utterly dependent on the symbiote for the tiniest freedom and mental survival, for even getting sensory data, and is often subjected to sensory deprivation - which can break down the toughest personalities after all.
Sam, in canon, should have been more effected and lastingly. Of course, I've sidestepped the Sam/Jolinar/Martouf/Lantash thing by not having Sam end up as a host, and screwed her up other ways. :)
Jacob/Selmak is a question in canon. He/they certainly seemed to act as the Tau'ri's greatest ally among the Tok'ra. But how much was an act and for what reasons? There's no guessing Selmak's hidden agendas or how much Jacob was Jacob even when it seemed to be just him. (That's what I was going for with Jolinar faking Rodney, too. Even other Tok'ra couldn't know.) Fun stuff to contemplate.
