No matter what Mer thinks or Jolinar brainwashed him into thinking: Jack didn't not leave him deliberately and though the SGC didn't search officially, Jack and Teal'c and Daniel did a lot of off-the-record detours during missions, trying to find out what happened to him. The Tok'ra are secretive SOBs, though, and kept it concealed until after Rodney sent them the message Jolinar was gone.
