I enjoyed the many layers of intimacy shown here: verbal play, comforting touch, caregiving touch, emotional support through silence as well as words--all apart from anything sexual. And yet you show how much Rodney is able to express and John appreciate through the one kiss they share just before they are no longer marooned.

An interesting and subtle take on how relationships both stay constant and evolve--for John and Rodney as well as the friends and spouses left behind. I also found the commonalities you created to draw John and Kim together effective and believable, in light of canon John and your own extrapolation of him.
